At a time when Grandpa Pudding Brains is bonespurs deep in the quagmire of a war with a nation that loves asymmetrical warfare, having a calm, experienced leader who oversees the detection and prevention of terror attacks against America couldn't be more important. Joseph Kent is exactly this sort of fella. With 11 combat tours as an Army Ranger under his belt, time spent with the Central Intelligence Agency's shady paramilitary actions arm, Kent arguably has more scruples and experience in dealing with the bad shit than anyone in the president's inner circle. He's chosen to resign from his post at perhaps the worst possible time — or the very best, depending on whether or not you belong to an Iranian proxy terror cell waiting for orders to act on U.S. soil. He released his letter of resignation earlier today.
Polite, concise, and brutal in its honest assessment of Trump's actions. You just know he's eating his spray tan–stained pillow in a rage while you read this.

You may not know of the NCTC, but it's the agency's job to pull together intelligence gathered by the various intel agencies, look at it like puzzle pieces, and put them together to create a picture of potential threats and threat actors. Given the traditional hatred among the nation's various intelligence and law enforcement elements for sharing information with one another, the NCTC is a vital asset for getting shit done. While it will no doubt carry on without Kent at the helm, there's no way the loss won't affect the agency's morale.
