I've been looking forward to losing myself in the buzzing lights and moist carpet of Kane Parsons' infinite Backrooms alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve and Mark Duplass. It's in theaters May 19 and here's the trailer.
For the uninitiated, the Backrooms were the last and greatest creepypasta to emerge from 4chan. It all flows from an uncanny photo posted with a suggestive story.

It flowered into a sprawling and vastly overdetailed collective lore, but Parsons boiled it back down to its basics in a series of short films that drew the attention of the most uncanny entity of them all: A24. And here we are!
It strikes me again how Backrooms-adjacent Severance was. If its white aesthetic symbolizes purity and corporate safety, a liminal and ironic canvas for the psychological horrors of Lumon's technology, here we see how yellow represents joy, optimism and the simple pleasures of mental stimulation in new environments. Classic color psychology!
