Karoline Leavitt returned to Fox News and immediately tried to convince America that the Lincoln Memorial Algae Farm is a campaign promise kept.
On FOX, Leavitt called the algae-costumed protesters "deranged leftists" and said, "Only the Democrats could hate beautifying our nation's capital and making it a symbol of pride again, but this is what the American people elected President Trump to do." The pool, meanwhile, has been turning green and peeling after a $14.7 million renovation, and Reuters reports it is set to be drained again while Trump blames vandals without providing evidence and threatens prison time.
That is spin doctoring without a license. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool was supposed to be Trump's patriotic blue makeover. Instead, it became a $14.7 million algae farm with peeling paint, bright engine-coolant-green water, warranty repairs, and a planned re-draining just weeks after Trump declared victory. Trump is, of course, blaming vandals without providing evidence and threatening prison time for "destruction, or even the attempted destruction" of the pool.
The algae was green. The spin was fluorescent.
