For nearly a decade now, my friend Lauren Briere has been making adorable retrofuturistic steampunk fairytale paintings of robots, relaxing in mundane settings (though usually rowboats).
She's now compiled some of her favorite robots into a full-length coffee table book titled Robots in Rowboats and the Wistful Whimsies, Volume 1, which adds some loose narrative insight into the lives of these adorable tin cans as well:
Corie J Weaver writes to tell us that Dreaming Robot (previously is kickstarting its latest science fiction anthology for kids, The Young Explorer's Adventure Guide, "the fourth collection of science fiction stories for middle grade readers, with a focus on diversity and representation."
Jenise writes, "Dreaming Robot Press is a teensy little publisher in New Mexico trying to fill a much-needed niche: they publish science fiction for children. In particular, they publish the Young Explorer's Adventure Guide, an annual anthology of SF short stories, most of which are for middle grades readers written by such luminaries as Nancy Kress and Beth Cato."
Corie writes, "We have a project Happy Mutants may be interested in — an anthology of science fiction stories for middle grade readers, with a focus on diversity and representation. We have 22 great stories from a wide range of authors, from Hugo and Nebula winner Nancy Kress, to relative newcomers in the field."
