The fully loaded chair, made from 450 12-gauge shotgun shells has a "massaging texture" due to the protruding brass tips. Link (via Yanko Design)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

This looks like a prop from one of the Saw movies.

  • Dr Benway

It’s Dick “Shotgun” Cheney’s favorite chair!

  • dculberson

I hope they’re not fully loaded!

  • Harrkev

That should be “12 gauge” and not “.12 gauge” Technically, I think that 0.12 gauge would be about equivalent to a large cannon on a battleship.

  • Halloween Jack

I think that if you really want a massaging texture, you’d want to go with something like those beaded seat covers that you can get in auto part shops. Between this and the CD chair, chairs made of [random crap] are looking like the new art cars.

    House fire = BOOM!

  • MCZ

The cases are unprimed, uncrimped, and empty. “Fully Unloaded” might be a more appropriate name for that uncomfortable-looking piece of furniture…

Should come with a warning tag: DO NOT EAT CHILLI WHEN SITTING IN THIS CHAIR

  • NoneMoreBlack

Yes, it should be 12 gauge. The gauge number refers to the number of shot pellets that would weigh 1 pound; thus a pound of 12 gauge shot is 12 pellets. .12 gauge, if such a thing existed, wouldn’t be much; that is simply a 1/.12 pound shot, or 8.3 pounds. I suppose if you constructed a canister round out of such projectiles you would need the 14″ gun from a battleship to fire it.

Warning: Do not use as dorm furniture.

  • Ted Cantu

If someone ever falls over in this thing they’re dead. Seriously. It wouldn’t take much for one of these shells to go off.
