Art book features the best 100 games on the Amstrad CPC

In the Shadow of the CPC is a book about the Amstrad CPC, an 8-bit personal computer released in 1984 and popular in the U.K., France, Spain and Germany, selling about 3 million units through the decade. Though not so well-known as the Commodore 64 and Sinclair ZX Spectrum, it has a dedicated following, and a massive software library. But the book will focus on 100 titles and their creators.

Through exclusive interviews, you will discover the careers and anecdotes of the graphic designers, musicians and coders who worked on these classics. How did they design graphics on limited machines? What challenges did they overcome to create these masterpieces?

Each game will be presented with screenshots, original illustrations and commentary on its influences and origins. Discover how these titles shaped the creativity of players and inspired many talents, far beyond the Amstrad CPC.

A true time capsule of the 1980s and 1990s, the interviews and personal anecdotes of the creators will offer a unique and unprecedented insight, bringing to life the memories and emotions that these games evoked.

I remember Raffaele Cecco's name from some of the most impressive games' credit screens! It'll be fascinating to see all these childhood memories put in context by the people who made them possible.

The book is €35 (about $41) and there are various upgrades at the Kickstarter such as postcards backs, bookmarks and stickers.
