Zack Snyder is known for many things. He brought an innovative, visually provocative rendition of Frank Miller's 300 to theatres! He was responsible for bringing Superman back to the big screen (again). He completely misunderstood the canonical role Pa Kent played in Clark Kent becoming Superman. Then there was that awkward Night Owl/Silk Specter sex scene in Watchmen… and whatever the hell was happening in those two Rebel Moon films…
Look, the guy's got more talent and success than I do, and I'm certain he means well. But he's made some choices that are, well, certainly choices. But I never assumed that Snyder was taking a piss in the theatre-going public's ear until I read that he was thinking about rebooting Escape From New York — a John Carpenter confectionery masterpiece that should never be reimagined. Fortunately, it sounds like those who know and love Snyder are pumping the brakes to get him to think about what he's doing.
Do we need a remake? I love Kurt Russell, and the truth of it is, as much as I love Zack, when someone's like, \"I want you to do Snake,\" I'm like, \"I love Kurt Russell. I don't want to.\" I would never want to step into that.
Jason Momoa has a solid history of public love for Snyder and has been directed by him in three movies. That's a solid \"yeah, I'll work with this guy\" track record. That's exactly the type of person you'd want to hold an intervention for an eager-to-film-all-the-things kinda guy like Zack Snyder. Hopefully, Snake Plissken will stay away from New York or any other post-World War Three city the United States government is thinking about having him escape from.
