Time and time again, I count myself lucky that The Good Liars are willing to wade into the backwoods of MAGA country so I don't have to. They've made an extremely stable career out of showing up at Trump-centric events and documenting them in their attendees' own words, and it doesn't get much more Trump-centric than the Great American State Fair.
As has been opined on this very site, the Fair is a perfect representation of Trump's administration: an underwhelming attempt at patriotic pageantry brought low by the crucial issue of him not giving much of a fuck about the country, or his base, or anything that isn't himself.
I doubt the Liars had much problem getting in. Despite it all, the fair's MAGA-adherent attendees remained doggedly determined to have a good time.
Ranking "Trump" over "country" on your list of priorities — and tying him with God, no less — feels like it's saying the quiet part out loud, repeatedly, without a hint of irony, directly into a microphone held by your political opponent. The more people out themselves like this, the better, though.
