New York mayor Zohran Mamdani wears a classic and relatively inexpensive Casio A1000MA-7 [casio.com]. It's typical of the company's perfectly archaic digital watches; there's little need to significantly upgrade the design as it works well and we never stopped buying them, though the "Premium Vintage" edition he wears was made in 2022. The advertised features include "water resistant", "unisex" and "simple design."
Here's the blurb:
Go vintage in premium style — with the sharp and sophisticated A1000 detailed in beautiful hairline finishing. The full-metal unisex design, featuring a simply elegant multi-row stainless-steel band, complements your style with ease, whatever your day may bring. Packed with handy functions that include high-brightness Super Illuminator, stopwatch, alarm, and more.
Gear Patrol described what justifies the $160 price tag.
What sets the A1000MA-7 apart from similar watches, including the strikingly similar A700WM-7AVT, is the attention to detail: a stainless steel case, mineral glass instead of plastic, quick-release straps, and a bit of dressy, mid-century flair in the form of a Milanese mesh bracelet.
Mamdani didn't chance the water resistance for his besuited pool plunge last week; the Casio was nowhere to be seen.

I'm almost sad it isn't Casio's F91W, the fabled terrorist watch, as we might then power the datacenters with conservative anguish.
