HOWTO mass-customize boiled omelets

This sounds like a clever way to managed group lunches (if you're not worried about the health effects of hot plastic):

Have guests write their name on a quart-size Ziploc freezer bag with permanent marker.

Crack 2 eggs (large or extra-large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.

Put out a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomato, hash browns, salsa, etc.

Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake.

Make sure to get the air out of the bag and zip it up.

Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes.

You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.

Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily.

Update: Travis sez, "Ziploc has come out and said to avoid cooking anything like this, as their bags cannot withstand temperatures that high. There is also the risk of the plastics combining with the food and the content being a possible cancer risk!"

Update 2:

Anaximander sez, "Hundreds of Girl Guides in southern Ontario do this every time they go camping – instead, we use cleaned milk bags, which are a bit thicker and don't leave an aftertaste. We've been doing it *at least* 15 years that I can recall, but probably much, much longer."

Update 3: Monkey sez, "after the Ziplock omelette, then what? Why sorbet in a sack, of course!"
