This short video advertising Kellogg's Raisin Bran Crunch shows a reformed alien sitting at the breakfast table, engaged in a rambling monologue about how he has metamorphosed from a scary flesh-eating monster into a pilates-practicing, go-with-the-flow type of guy that you might want to sit down and have a bowl of cereal with.

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

“A tiny bit of wobble would’ve been enough to give it an “amateur” feel”

Agreed. Damn near pitch perfect except for the boom mic and constant shaking. We get it. It’s REAL. It’s not like you’re trying to convince us that a creepy girl is living in your kitchen crawl space.

Another appetising recent British breakfast cereal ad has cartoon CGI milkmen dancing next to their milk floats.

A rain of objects of the size, consistency and dampness of turds falls on and around them.

Presumably these represent the Cocoa Pops being advertised.

  • Kodascope

Isn’t that Pumpkinhead? I didn’t know he was English?

  • MarkM

That was hilarious, especially when he starts gnoshing at 2:10.

  • Piers W

It occurs to me that people might not believe this.

You forgot to mention the banana on the table. Just look at it.

    • Seraphim_72

I wanted to you to know that I hit the report link on your post. Sadly there is no space for a “tea out my nose” type of complaint :)

      Viva la BananaBanana Republic!

  • Eggwhite

Y’know – the voice behind it sounds really quite familiar. It sounds a lot like stand up comic Mickey Flanagan…

  • Hagarack

Man, the shaky cam gives me a headache, what is it with people and shaky cam! A tiny bit of wobble would’ve been enough to give it an “amateur” feel.

  • pffft

“i miss a lot of people. mostly because I ate them.”

dunno. i think it’s pretty funny. the accent is great.

“hello. i want to dominate all of you. you look quite delicious”

  • MrJM

Finally, a cure for “blood fever”!

  • Anonymous

It’s got to be Ricky Gervais.

  • ZippySpincycle

Does he eat the cereal with his little mouth too?

    • Ubernostrom

He does in fact, at about 2:10.

  • Anonymous

A little more sarcasm and it could be John Lyddon of the sex pistols.

  • Anonymous

That is in fact the Pumpkinhead costume with an extra head bit added on to the back. You can even see the separation between the original head and the addition.

    • Anonymous

WRONG! So wrong all around. Not pumpkinhead costume, and no separation.

  • Tanukintama

Are British television ads always this long? Few minutes more and this would be a short film.

  • Anonymous

Great lines. Pretty sure that voice is Tom Konkle. Very funny! Very English.

  • jfrancis

Wow. That was long. A :30 would have been plenty.

  • hbl

It’s not Brand or Fielding, although they are being aped to some degree. This is far too meandering, and not nearly interesting enough to be credited to either of the above.

  • Blue

    >the accent is great. – pffft.

Really? It bugs the hell out of me. I’m pretty sure it’s an American doing a ‘passable’, but slightly wobbly southern English accent rather than a native Brit.

And “trash”? Are Americans incabable of transcoding alternative english-language terminology?

    • Boba Fett Diop

Whether it’s a native speaker or not, the accent seems to be some sort of southern English variant with some distinct northeastern (Middlesbrough?) elements sneaking in.

      • princeminski

        ‘Enry ‘iggins?

    • Anonymous

Jesus, man… It’s a joke… Don’t take it so seriously… Take it for what it is. Who cares whether a few Lymies did it or not–it’s funny! I’m American, my parents are Brits… That said, you people have to lighten up.

  • princeminski

Probably don’t have it in Great Britain, but I think that this is the adult form of the Geiko Gecko.

  • Anonymous

    @scifiyjazznik: Yeah. Creepy. It’s moving.

  • Anonymous

I am pretty sure that is Russell Brand.

  • Boondocker

    I’m calling fake on this.

    • princeminski

      Don’t think it’s a real alien?

  • Anonymous

Sounds rather like Russell Brand, actually : )

  • starfish and coffee

i’m not pointin any talons ‘ere

  • Anonymous

doesn’t the voice remind you of noel fielding a bit?
