"A scandal has erupted in the City Council of Bulgaria's Plovdiv as several councilors have been caught milking virtual cows on the Facebook application Farmville. The councilors were first detected playing Farmville two weeks ago during the debates for Plovdiv's 2010 budget." Busted! (via Julian Dibbell)

The funny thing is the guy who played Farmville was evicted from the council after a vote. 20 councilors voted for and 19 against. I guess the 19 who voted against were his co-farmers.

Btw I’m a Bulgarian, too. I know what it is to live in a country that is governed by idiots.

He wasn’t kicked out of the council. He’s still a councilor. He only got voted out of the municipal committee, which is probably formed from members of the council.

BTW: What happened to the other 12 votes? There were 51 councilors in all.

Well, they must have played Texas Hold’em

probably all for the best to keep politicians nicely occupied with something they can cause little harm to.

If a councilor gets into trouble for playing Farmville, what happens if they play Mafia Wars?

  • wesdeadnite

Funny, a city councilman in Philly just got in trouble over the same thing. His excuse, other councilpersons were doing the same thing. Way to go! No wonder the cell phone while driving ban is such a joke. Soon we’ll have to buy soda in NJ.

I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry :( if’s a fun story if you don’t live in the country governed by people who play Farmvile instead fixing the billions of problems in the country :(

Interesting to see this story here :), actually i saw it here for the first time :)
