Nathan sez, "Aaron Barnhart, on his excellent TV Barn website, took some photos of Berkeley Breathed's Comic-Con lecture. Including some shots of cartoons Bill Watterson sent Berkeley throughout the years. (The congratulations to Breathed on his Opus holiday special poking fun at the Charlie Brown Christmas Special was my personal favorite.)"

Comic-Con 2010: Berkeley Breathed and the Piano Thing (Thanks, Nathan!)

  • Real world Banana Jr 6000 computer from Bloom County
  • Early Bill Watterson rarities

  • Interview with Bill "Calvin and Hobbes" Watterson's mom

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

I never knew that Breathed and Watterson were such close friends. That’s really cool, especially since they’re two of my four favorite cartoonists of all time (the other two being Gary Larson and Scott Adams).

Me neither! They’re also two of my favorites, especially Breathed. I consider him the comic laureate of my formative years.

“Bloom County” and “Calvin and Hobbes” were constant companions during my teenage years, along with the “Far Side”. All three of those guys were talented and changed comics, at least for me.

Breathed, Watterson, Larson, Walt Kellys’ Pogo (my Dad had the compilations in book form) and Groenings’ Life In Hell (I bought those myself): those were the guys I followed in my youth. Read every damn strip they ever did. . .or at least, I tried to. . .

    Huzzah and Props to all!!!
