[photoshop]Shokotan must have a very, very long neck in this photo.[/photoshop]

(Comparing this to actual astronaut photos, I guess Shokotan & the guy must also have very tiny heads & bodies, but hey: instantly obvious giraffe neck.)

  • MrsBug

That’s not Lady GaGa’s next outfit? I mean, the meat dress wasn’t enough?

  • knoxblox

No skin, depressurization, and possibly a lack of oxygen. That guy must be in some serious pain.

    • Donald Petersen

I expect he’s experiencing some noticeable shrinkage due to the cold, as well. Is it weird that his forearm radial group muscles end in a sleeve cuff?

  • Cardinal Biggles

That’s the culprit! Gunther von Hagens- give me my skin back!

  • Lilah

I actually watch this show every week. Kagaku-kun (Mr. Science) seems to suffer no ill effects from his lack of skin and has lots of other anatomical accoutrements for his on-location shoots (brain hard hats, x-ray aprons, and so on). You can see a gallery of his hijinks here: http://www.tbs.co.jp/jump_kagaku/gallery/

I always wondered what happened to the creature from The Keep. Apparently he left Earth and is now teaching Japanese kids astronomy…in space.

    • Lilah

Anon #16: Actually, Kagaku-kun isn’t particularly a kid’s show. The self-stated aim of the program is to get adults re-interested in science. To that effect, it comes on Saturdays at 7PM, a so-called “golden” spot (I guess what we would call “primetime” in English). Before it got promoted to golden time, it aired at I think 11 or 12 at night.

And yeah Super Nate, that’s Naoki Tanaka, who also stars on Gaki. Even though he’s a comedian, he gets to do some cool stuff on Kagaku-kun, including some pretty deep scuba dives.

  • Christopher Vigliotti

I would have gone with “look Cameron from Ferris Beuler’s Day Off and the dark-haired protagonist elf creature from The Dark Crystal, that’s the guy who stole my spacesuit. And my skin.”

  • gullevek

Since it moved to Saturday at 7pm I always watched. I never have for that on Saturday. Sort of a pity. Was always kind of entertaining.

  • monstrinho_do_biscoito

oh explosive decompression, you are redunkulous!

  • catgrin

    Screenshots!!!

Lilah’s link has a side ad that can be followed to screenshots of the game! Tiny bodies – big heads!

Hey! It is ‘Hellraiser’ with astronauts!

    Where are the cenobites?

@lilah wow, mr. science even goes curling! great link!

  • Trent Hawkins

I see Lord Zedd is still popular in Japan.

    • Znaps

The funny thing being, of course, that Lord Zedd was created for Power Rangers, rather than being a holdover from the Japanese sentai series that were used for the majority of the villain and action footage.

  • rebdav

…and they made a lunar hoppity horse out of my skin!

  • Super Nate

I have to ask, is that the Gaki no Tsukai guy on the left?

  • Patient

That’s Japanese nerd princess Shokotan in the middle.

  • Anonymous

Note the “TSA” on the bottom right corner of the box. They’re using this as a tool to condition people to accept their invasive searches. “Step in here and we’ll be able to see through your clothes. It’ll be awesome–just like Mr. Science.”

  • coverandwait

So it is. Now they just need to get Felicia Day for the sequel. It’ll be an east meets west nerd girl extravaganza, and my favorite videogame cover ever.

My space suit is made of meat. It is warm and comfy.
(Arm — down! Arm — down I say! Down!!)

See that bastard over there? First he says “We have such sights to show you”, and the next thing you know I’m a walking butcher shop.
When I catch that no good thief, I pulling all of those needles out his head and his new name is going to be Pin Ass!
