Loving steampunk mask-maker Bob Basset's foray into goggled-out Venetian carnival masks.

Steampunk Colombina Venetian Leather mask. Mask with Stand

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

That is an awesome mask! Especially for those of us who wear glasses, if we could get prescription lenses fitted there somehow. ;-)

My wife and I go to an annual masquerade ball around the Christmas holidays, and I’ve always hated wearing contacts and a mask on top. Having lenses fitted on a steampunk themed mask would be absolutely badass.

Of course, Oakley made sunglasses in this style 10+ years ago. Google “Oakley over the top”. First link I found was: http://reviews.oakley.com/0433/2576/reviews.htm

For people who a) crave attention and b) have too much money. Although, they do look strangely correct on bald people. I dunno.

Have a look, I found a few built with old computer parts: http://abiteof.com/2011/01/13/steampunk-venice-carnival-masks/

This one does have more “steampunk character”. Nice find!
