Colin sez, "Renovation is this year's World Science Fiction Convention and will take place in Reno, NV from 17-21 August. Boing Boing's own Cory Doctorow and many other SF writers, editors, publishers, artists, musicians, film-makers and more will be there along with well over 3,000 fans. Want to get up close with Tim Powers, George RR Martin, David Brin, John Scalzi and the rest? This is your chance!"

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Wow, another lineup of white guys.

    Good for Reno.

Go to WorldCon, hang out a little after, and then head up north for Burning Man (starts August 29.)

I really can’t think of anything I’d want to do for an entire week in Reno between WorldCon and Burning Man. I’ve already got my Burning Man ticket and I’d *love* to finally make it to a WorldCon – but I can’t see myself driving to Reno and back twice, or crashing for an entire week when I have work to do back home.

“Wow, another lineup of white guys.”

Really? Ellen Asher is a white guy? & Boris is Peruvian.
