According to artist Lorenzo Oggiano, his computer-generated art is made to...

…stimulate thought and dialogue on the progressive relativisation of natural forms of life as a result of techno-biological evolution. "Quasi-Objects" regards data actualization, the production of biologically non-functional organisms and ecosystems as transient output of an operative practice: aesthetics of process...

Not to be the purient one around here, but those look EXACTLY like clitorises.

      clitori?

Exactly? Good lord, man, what are you sleeping with?

  • Baldhead

That’s some impressive artist nonsense there. Bravo.

  • i_r_beej

I love it when artists speak in bullsh*t. This is exactly why, as an art student, I hung out with other majors. In the art building I always had to wear hipwaders to get through all the art-speak.

    • Milo

I hate it. I know what you meant, but…ick. No. I endured drivel like this for eight months in senior thesis. It made me wonder if these ‘artists’ were just ex-philosophy majors who gave up upon realizing they’d have to take a course in formal logic.

      Wait a minute.

      Aw, shit.

Best just to skip the art school altogether…spend more time making art!

    • DewiMorgan

Sometimes, the art is crap, but the bullshit is lovely. Sadly, in this case, I’m left feeling indifferent to both.

  • Tarliman

I was reminded of the Polarians from Piers Anthony’s =Cluster= series. Which was, let’s face it, an experiment in writing nonhuman sex scenes.

I can’t believe it!  These images have just stimulated thought and dialogue on the progressive relativisation of natural forms of life as a result of techno-biological evolution.

  • retchdog

before now, i’d never really had to know the plural of “cervix.” (it’s “cervices.”)

  • AirPillo

    Quasi-grammar describing quasi objects.

Either the statement is a very clever continuation of the art, or the artist just sounds like a gibbering idiot.

If you can’t come up with a grandiose description of your art that makes any sense, it’s because it isn’t worthy of grandiose description. I wish more artists were comfortable simply describing their feelings and inspirations without getting so self-conscious about it that they start to trail off into the blithering dimension.

Bet’cha’ Art Forum Magazine is just drooling to get this guy on board their editorial staff :)

    I’m surprised at these comments.

edit – ok, I hadn’t read the quotes, I was just looking at the pictures, which I thought were interesting and nicely rendered.

  • robdobbs

Well there’s some meaningless art-speak if I’ve ever heard it.

  • jeligula

If you own one of these quasi-objects, does that make you quasi-objective?

  • http://celesteagnes.blogspot.com/ Sekino

What’s wrong with “I like doing models inspired by random biological forms, because it’s beautiful and cool”?

  • bklynchris

“According to artist Lorenzo Oggiano, his computer-generated art is made to…”simultaneously apply deodorant and bring you to climax.

  • sean

I wonder if he became an artist because he could talk like that, or if becoming an artist is what did it.
