Phoenix airport security detained and questioned Gen. Joseph J. Foss — a retired Marine Corps General, former Governor of South Dakota and former president of the NRA — for 45 minutes. The problem is that he was carrying his Medal of Honor, which was awarded to him by FDR for shooting down 26 enemy planes in the South Pacific (facts attested to by the inscription on the back of the medal).
