In the early fifties, the Airstream company was growing fast and decided to move its factory from Los Angeles to Jackson Center, Ohio. Nearly 66 years later, they're still building their iconic silver "canned hams" there.
In this promotional timelapse video, you can see how they get assembled. One thing to note is that they put all the rivets in by hand. (You may want to turn off the music though, it doesn't seem to be a good fit for the content. Shouldn't it be something more... vintage?)
By the way, if you're in the Jackson Center area, you can go take a free tour of the Airstream factory. Every weekday at 2 PM they offer them.
Also, in the springtime, Airstream hosts Alumapalooza at the grounds surrounding the factory. It's a fun camping event for travel trailer enthusiasts and owning an Airstream is not required. This year's event is May 29 to June 3, 2018.

The footage comes from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) which captured an image of the Sun every 0.75 seconds from June 1, 2010 to June 1, 2020,. Impressive! From its orbit in space around the […]
In the first couple of days of this time-lapse video, we see flies laying eggs on a dead fish. On the third day, maggots erupt and begin to eat the fish, paying special attention to the eye socket. At this time-frame, and without being able to smell the fish, it’s not as gross as you […]
One of the smartest, most interesting people I ever knew once told me about a time when he got really interested in the problem of calculating the orbits of the planets based on the idea tha the Earth was stationary and everything was moving relative to it (this being one of the corollaries of the […]
A guy on the Apple discussion forum started a thread titled, “Why do your Charger Cables have the lifespan of a housefly?” That question is probably enough to elicit a whole bunch of head nods from virtually everyone reading this, whether you’re an iPhone user, an Android owner or have virtually any device that needs […]
For all their power and capabilities, image editing software isn’t like sitting down to play a video game. You aren’t there to have fun. You’re likely looking to make a few minor tweaks to an image to make it ready to be shared, then you move on with satisfaction in a job well done. If […]
This is truly a golden age for fans of a big ginormous TV screen. Not too long ago, to buy a television over 40 inches usually meant wheeling one of those massive Mitsubishi or Toshiba projection monoliths into your home, consuming a vast portion of any room at a cost of potentially $7,000 to $8,000. […]
