Playmobil's VW Camper and Beetle are likely better than the real thing

Having owned, loved, and hated both the VW Camper and the VW Beetle, I can safely say I'd rather own the toys.

My very first car was a VW Bug. Figuring out how to get the most out of a its underpowered, air-cooled 4 cylinder engine and miserable clutch-less shifter, was a real treat. I fell in love with the simplicity of air-cooled engines, however and at first opportunity I found a 356 Porsche to be all that the Beetle could not.

Later in life I found myself driving VW campers. Inadequate in every way except "being fun," the Camper is a real piece of shit. You can certainly have a lovely #vanlfie style vacation in it, if you have meticulously maintained the thing, understand its limitations and are patient.

I had several error free trips. I had more successful trips than disasters. The disasters were epic.

Now I drive cars you can get replacement parts for and keep the motorcycle vintage — cause there is no logic in that.

These toys are pretty awesome. I prefer them.
