"For Elizabeth" is a two-and-a-half minute video, shot in black and white, of Jim Carroll (one of my all time heroes) reading some of his poetry.
This video was directed by Jesse Dylan and shown at Lollapalooza in 1993.
Carroll is best known for his 1978 autobiography, The Basketball Diaries, and his band, The Jim Carroll Band.
Jim has a large body of brilliant lesser-known work as well. He's written multiple novels, books of poetry, and recorded beautiful spoken-word albums. "For Elizabeth" is a great introduction to Carroll's spoken word and poetry.
