Drone delivery of prison contraband accidentally drops package at school

A drone delivery of contraband likely meant for a Virginia prison was accidentally dropped at a K-12 college prep school nearby. The package contained weed, tobacco, mobile phones, and a USB-to-lightning adapter. According to police, there has been quite a bit of drone activity around the Lawrenceville Correctional Center in recent months.

"During our investigation, it was determined that this package was dropped around 5:40 a.m. due to the fact that the witness saw a drone during that time land on the grounds," Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Roberts wrote in an email to WTVR. "Soon thereafter, the witness saw a small dark-colored sedan come into the parking lot of the school and grab the drone."

It's curious that the driver apparently left the package behind. Perhaps the delivery was actually meant for the school.
