Hurdy-gurdy! I've said it once, I'll say it again! Hurdy-gurdy! It's America's favorite drone instrument (this is conjecture, I'm not a musicologist, please don't sue me) and I'm here to tell you that it's not exclusively made for dirge music. No, in fact, you can use the continuous drone to recreate trip hop songs from 1998.
Michalina Malisz runs a great channel for hurdy-gurdy covers, usually metal songs. She has a lovely voice and uses this medieval instrument to an unusual and inventive end. I love instruments that have this otherworldly quality and I love (some) trip hop very, very much.
