DHS chief does happy dance after Iran exits World Cup

The U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security is apparently doing soccer taunts now, telling a World Cup security briefing he was "so happy" when Iran was eliminated that he may have "sung a song or two" and done a "happy dance."

Mullin admitted during a World Cup security briefing: "I'm just glad they're done, and they're not coming back.

"I was so happy when we were able to pull their visas and said they could leave the U.S. soil, and I might've sung a song or two or maybe even danced a happy dance."

Iran moved their training base to the Mexican border city of Tijuana in May, having originally been due to be based in Tucson, Arizona. All three of their matches were played in the U.S. — with the first two in Los Angeles and the last one in Seattle.

Ridiculous authoritarian sports cosplay has been baked into the whole tournament. You can argue about security restrictions. You can argue about Iran's government, FIFA, visas, and geopolitics. But a Cabinet official doing a happy dance because a national team got bounced from the World Cup is not security policy? Reality TV as government.

Iran exited the tournament; Mullin exited adult comportment.
