A series of wonderful Reuters photos show Chinese children studying and playing in a school campus built in a cave.
200711161043A general view shows the Dongzhong (literally meaning "in cave") primary school at a Miao village in Ziyun county, southwest China's Guizhou province, November 14, 2007. The school is built in a huge, aircraft hanger-sized natural cave, carved out of a mountain over thousands of years by wind, water and seismic shifts.

  • Bonnie

I wonder if they have to move all their desks to let Batman park his car?

  • Elysianartist

    Sweeeeeeeeet!!

  • Miss Cellania

I love being in a cave, especially if there is room to stand up. The temperature is perfect, and the acoustics are wonderful. And no civilization noise.

  • CaptainGroggySwagger

I wonder how hard it is to stick Gummy Bears to the ceiling.

  • matt

I don’t know what the big deal is – most of our public schools are like caves.

Actually this is pretty cool. To follow up on Bonnie’s thought, I wonder if Batman ever gets ticked that these kids are always using the Bat-Computer’s internet connection to look up stuff for reports.

  • R.

sure beats the industrial/state prison feel of some public schools in the U.S.

  • ShaneH

I am reminded of the Perry Bible Fellowship comic titled

    Buns and Chou Chou

Awesome. It’s also where they train James Bond Super villains.

  • Pyros

I wonder if the student’s struggle with the idea that that which they perceive as real in the cave is really just shadows on the wall?

coolest place in the world to not learn about the Tiananmen Square Massacre!

Hello, this is a secret school for ninjas. How did they get this picture?
