Longoland's Monster Skin Rug comes in three sizes and is made from cashmere, wool and polymer clay. No prices on the site ("Price available on request") which makes me think, yikes, I probably can't afford this. The same designers do a line of twisted stuffed animals that make me incredibly happy. Link (Thanks, Fipi Lele!)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Yes, if you have to ask…

To me, it looks more like an “anti-yiff” device.

So much cooler then a bear skin rug, I really like the teeth, they make it look almost comical. I want one of those toys for my room!

Is it just me or does “A Dictat on Etiquette” seem to be partially inspired by Goatse?

  • Robert

It looks kind of edible. Maybe they could make one out of marshmallows?

You know what J.P. Morgan said, “If you have to ask how much it costs, you can’t afford it.”

  • Teratohmy

This would be an awesome skin rug thing, but every experience I’ve had with the real things is that the head is just too bumpy and ugly to use for my own preferences, so if I ever ordered this, which I’d love to, I’d definitely ask for a mouthless/headless version. Very nice otherwise!

Did the real thing still have the skull in it? I’ll imagine that the ‘head’ of a constructed ‘skin rug’ would be much more malleable and therefore comfortable.

    …except for the mouth part.

Come on, Cory, Frauenfelder would never say art or an art-like product is too expensive. What are you doing living in the real world with the rest of us lowbrow consumers?
