I have an inordinate fondness for Alice in Wonderland stuff -- it was the first book I ever read on my own -- and I'm really delighted by this sweet little Alice journal/blank book I just picked up. It features a nice mix of the Tenniel art as well as other classic public domain versions of Alice, and some great quotations from the book. It's got a nice moleskine-style elastic in Alice Blue, too. Link

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

I have an inordinate fondness for Alice in Wonderland stuff…

    Me too.

  • Agent 86

I always buy journals, and never fill them. Still, something to add to the [ever growing] collection.

I like this technoish Alice mashup of Disney Alice images,

    agent 86 -

i am so the same way. worse is that i bind my own journals on ocassion. so when i get an idea, i rush to make one and i have nothing to stick in it.

  • drblack

I also love Alice. I treasure my 1st edition of the Annotated Alice with the Tenniel illustrations, partly because my Mom gave it to me and because it is a beautiful book.

  • Jed Alexander

I have some Alice illustrations here in the portfolio section of my site:

The ones in black with blue tones in the “illustration” section. Some day I hope to get a book off the ground.

Pretty, pretty. If I had eight dollars to spare…

Say, only three left in stock. Hmmm.

  • melissa

i saw some really lovely alice plate sets recently. that journal is far too pretty!

  • Tenn

    Miss Melissa;
I’m not sure how much I like your writing yet, but it’s certainly slick and evocative. (Take no offense to my uncertainty- I’m usually like that. I need to read more of it!) Where is bloodmaker’s daughter sold?

  • Combo Drumm

sorry for the shameless plug, but check out “wonderland” by ill Imperial. Its a hip-hop song about Alice in Wonderland, its kinda abstract and psychedelic…

Now you too can make your own “go ask alice” journal! :P

    Tenn –

i think i have the scraps of one in my dresser that you’re free to have! i’m working on a new one for summer, probably with a different range of work, the one i have up on my (ancient, must redo) website is just a WEEE old.

i see you have a dA, i’ll be sending you a note :D

  • Tenn

Looking forward to reading more, then!

Oh, and don’t look at my DA writing. It’s terrible! Good to meet you, and I’ll be eagerly awaiting that note.

I was lucky enough to find a great Alice in Wonderland in a used bookstore – small format, printed in London; the clearest reproduction of the complete Tenniel illustrations I’ve ever seen. That one stays on the bookshelf with the select few… where I can find it easily.

For a great alternate illustrative interpretation, check out Ralph Steadman’s version.
