Murraymullet's Threadless submission features literal Peanuts -- unshelled peanuts painted to resemble Charles M Shulz's creations. Nice!

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

The technology that links taxonomy and Star Trek

Do you realise how weird it is for a non-native English speaker that the word “unshelled” means “with the shell still on”?

  • Sam

Very cool concept, it’s a shame that they (probably) won’t be able to print it due to licensing issues.

What’s a shame is that Schulz HATED the name ‘Peanuts’ – he had them called “Lil’ Folks”

And the pairings don’t seem right. For instance, Sally is “in love with” Linus and Lucy would be more appropriate leaning against Schroeder’s piano.

  • Felix Mitchell

Can they really print that number of colours anyway?

Perhaps it doesn’t need a license. On one hand it’s clearly a derrivative work but on the other it doesn’t include any of the characters or names.

Yep. They’ve been getting pretty fancy. That could be an interesting case if they tried it on legally, I just don’t think Threadless would be willing to give it a go.

  • Jawbone Minding

This is pure genius. I love recursive stuff! One only hopes it’s allowed to be put on the store. It’d be a real shame if it was not.
