Minecraft seeds

_9028489474908844496_2.jpg Minecraft, epic exploration game, now builds landscapes using seeds. This allows players to share their procedurally-generated worlds, and some of the best seeds are being collected. Two popular ones to get you started: "Glacier", shaded by massive overhanging cliffs, and "gargamel", a stunning canyon whose usual spawn point is in a pitch-black cave. 1. I just seeded “jabberwocky”, and spawned on a beach surrounded by snow, forest, and mountains. Plenty of resources in easy reach, included coal right on the surface. This might not be a bad place to set up shop for a while…

  2. I’ve only just gotten back to my full productivity level after buying MC a month ago. Thanks a lot, BoingBoing.

  3. My productivity hasn’t gone down at all since buying Minecraft. It’s just that all I produce now is castles.

  4. I just want to build stuff. The easiest way was with SPC (Single Player Commands). Now that mods broken until I get an update. Great.

    1. You have the option to not update your client if you don’t want to break your mods, and SPC was updated to work with the new version early this morning.

  5. My wife and I are playing a hotseat co-op of gargamel. She works the suface and I work underground.

  6. Hmm. AVG stopped me from visiting the site linked in the article, because it said there were “known threats” on there. Perhaps it was worried about me falling into The Void.

  7. I know this is still in beta but WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO IMPLEMENT THE ANTI-ALIASING algorithm??? ;-)

  8. @classic01 you can set your videocard to force AA in hardware. It works, but it will cause some mild performance deficiency!

  9. I just seeded “Dragonesque” and got some very grassy flatland with plenty of reeds

  10. Jabberwocky is an amazing seed! It has a huge underground cave, plenty if livestock, and mountians to where you can set up shop and see almost everything below
