I feel like this elk calf accurately expresses my feelings about the fact that it is Friday.
EDIT: This video is the work of nature photog David Neils. It's great stuff. Big thanks to smithemma for pointing out the video's creator!

As they say in .za:
Dis naweek! Kom ons fokken duik!
Ok, this is driving me crazy!
This video has been making the rounds for the past two years, and no one is giving credit to the guy who shot it!
His name is David Neils, and he has a slew of amazing wildlife videos and photos on his website: http://www.offthepavement.org/
In fact the original video of this is 53 seconds long, all the others are only 47 seconds long because his credits are cut off.
Credit where credit is due, this guy is amazing!
I really like the ones he got of the bears.
Their interest in the cameras is amusing.. I assume they’re picking up on the human scent and wondering what it is?
Thank you for the link, Emma! I’ve added it to the post.
That’s some first rate gamboling… nice.
Thank you for the link, Emma. I think I could spend all day watching these. Especially love the one with the three elk yearlings. It made me wish that he had a microphone going all the time.
There is no sound to this but I can imagine what it would be. “Weeeeeeee!!!!!”
Imagine you’re a deer. You’re prancing along, you get thirsty, you spot a little brook, you put your little deer lips down to the cool clear water… BAM! A fuckin bullet rips off part of your head! Your brains are laying on the ground in little bloody pieces! Now I ask ya. Would you give a fuck what kind of pants the son of a bitch who shot you was wearing?
My fave is the 6 point elk who just lays down in the wallow after making it nice a muddy. You can just sense the “ahhhhhh” after he settles in. :)
Replace the puddle with vodka and this is me too (in 6 hours).
Could somebody please add the “Friday” song for this baby elk?
WE SO EXCITED!!!
This is good if for no other reason than we now have an OED-ready illustration of the word ‘frolic.’
This clip is delightful! One time near Yosemite I saw a young mule deer joyfully bounding up and down an incline for a full 15 minutes. I wished I had a video camera with me.
Thanks for the heads-up Emma! David Neils has some fantastic videos.
Here we go. Add a little “Friday” to it.
This makes me hungry.
Okay, it’s six hours later. Whoopie! Woo Hoo! Yipee!
Mama Elk: “You stop that right now! You’re gonna track mud all through the woods!”
Now that calf is all dirty! Good job, CALF.
My kid does that, too. See, evolution is real.
Christ what an asshole. That’s some other animal’s drinking hole he’s messing up.
It’s not a mess ,it’s chocolate water!
Yay calf! get yo frolic on!!!
jump jump kick splash jump away!
Great anima-vids: worth some watchin’ says I
happy calfs +1
hating humans -1
Does anyone else think this may also be some sort of cleaning exercise? I’m curious–the calf almost reminds me of a bird.
Not to take away from the joy of it!
