Carolyn Porco, Cassini Imaging Team Leader and Director of CICLOPS (Cassini Imaging Central Laboratory for Operations), says:

Just down on the ground this morning and posted to the CICLOPS website: New raw (unprocessed) images from Cassini's recent non-targeted flyby of my favorite moon, icy Enceladus.

Also, stay tuned for several `targeted' flybys of Enceladus coming up in the next several months. We have three encounters between October 1 and November 6 this year, with closest approach distances ranging from 99 to 1231 kilometers, and another three between March 27 and May 2 of 2012, all with closest approaches about 75 kilometers. Should be grand.

OK, who has been snowmobiling all over Enceladus? The groomers spent all day on making it look nice and now, this.

Zamboni, hell, I want to see a monolith.

HEY, all you Internet billionaire turned space entreprenuers? One of you needs to secretly hurl an inflatable monolith. Land it on the Moon, or a moon. Anywhere that NASA is liable to find it.

By the time they launch an expedition and discover it is a fake we’ll have the deep space travel infrastructure and may as well keep on exploring.

    Oh, and the obligatory:
