Are they coming too late to give for Yule?

Minecraft is about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine in the virtual world. You can build anything you imagine with LEGO bricks in the physical world. Minecraft and LEGO were meant to be together.

We’ve invited a couple of the LEGO fans behind the earlier LEGO Minecraft projects, suparMacho and koalaexpert, to collaborate with us to shape the idea. We’re also interested in your ideas, and will select the best LEGO Minecraft models to also join our efforts.

As the official Mojang LEGO Minecraft project, we will work with the LEGO Group to secure a licensing agreement and donate the 1% royalty from LEGO CUUSOO to charity. Let’s make LEGO Minecraft happen together!! =D

    And there goes their server.

If I recall, the formula for servers is 6 bars of iron vertically sandwiching 3 piles of redstone dust. Notch should be able to hook them up.

What’s the Minecraft formula for pure computronium?

  • Henry Pootel

Minecraft-textured Lego blocks would be pure win – a match made in heaven.

They still need votes to make it happen! Please go vote on Cuusoo people!

Cool. I’ll give $50 to the first person that builds a giant Lego Game Boy and then films a stop motion animation of the first level from Super Mario Land built out of Lego.

All I want is redstone Lego. Give me that and I will die happy.

    DIGGY DIGGY HOLE!

I hate to be a party-pooper, but this doesn’t strike me as a good idea.  The whole point of Lego is unbound creativity:  Minecraft does a good job of capturing that on a computer, but what will you build with minecraft themed legos?  Scenes that look like lego approximations that look like minecraft approximations of something else?  Go straight to the source!

Minecraft is all cubes.  In order to build many things from Minecraft out of Lego, you’d have to use a 2×4 or 1×2 block (depending on your scale), since you can’t connect Lego blocks sideways.  So… yes, anything you make in Minecraft probably can be represented in Lego, but tearing it down and building something else out of those Legos … you’d be much more limited.

This must be because I don’t play Minecraft, but how is this different from just using all the 2×2 pieces in your Lego set?

    • GawainLavers

Probably just the patterns on the bricks.
