With a workable shutter button and straps to hang it around your neck, I prefer this camera attachment to the Big Red Button I mentioned yesterday. And it's $65, which is less than the Big Red Button.

This product will alert other people to my inherent superiority.

    • jimh

      Much like the iphone itself.

    Skeuomorphic design begets skeuomorphic design.

  • Ito Kagehisa

Looks like the world’s skinniest Argus.

I have learnt a new word – Skeuomorphic.  Thanks, brianary!

I think they were going for Leica. But I love the old Brick!

  • obeyken

I want a case that makes my old Leica look like an iPhone

  • VicqRuiz

Cool, disguise your iPhone from thieves by making it look like a much less valuable Leica IIIf.

  • CharredBarn

I achieve the same effect just by wearing my “I’m a conspicuously consumptive dork with more money that I know what to do with” shirt.

  • caipirina

Love it (and would probably order it if snail mail was not such a big issue here) …  but i’d really laugh seeing it in use as a PHONE … ‘look, this guy is talking to his Leica knock off’ …   Nice alternative (and slimmer) is the HipstaCase.

Did anyone notice that the strap alone cost 30$ … and the ‘fish eye lens’ 45$ ?

    • penguinchris

Those are far from outrageous prices for leather camera straps and high-quality optics, it just seems outrageous because they’re meant for your phone. I wouldn’t buy a camera strap for my phone, but if I had an iPhone 4s or something with a similar quality camera I would easily feel happy spending $45 for high-quality fisheye lenses and so on (though you can get a fisheye lens – possibly the same one – here for $25) because it makes a huge difference in what you can do with the camera and how cool your pictures with it can be.

My phone (Nexus One) has a relatively mediocre camera; I have a cheap plastic ultra-wide-angle attachment lens and it helps a lot. I wouldn’t pay more than a few dollars at this point because the camera isn’t very good to begin with, but what you get for your $25 is much better ergonomics (mine is a pain to use) and of course better quality all around.

i bought one fish eye lens fro my iPhone4 from some cheap chinese vendor … and it was crap! The description said it had a rubber ring for easy attach/detach action … but it actually came with a double sided adhesive ring which you were supposed to stick on the phone permanently .. which a) look crap, b) covers the flash and c) got dusty very quickly …

so .. if I somehow get a chance to get THIS setup shipped to Ethiopia without customs either stealing it or slapping me with a huge duty bill … I would probably got for that.

        • penguinchris

Yeah, that’s what sucks about mine too – doesn’t attach very nicely.

After I wrote that comment I went to a thrift store and happened to find a peep hole (for $1 – looks to be this exact same model that sells for ~$8), the kind you put in a door – it’s basically a fisheye lens and it seems to be very high quality.

I’ll have to saw part of it off but I think it would work quite well as a phone lens, though I don’t have a solution for mounting it to the phone (I think mounting it to a girl’s hair clip or something along those lines might work). Might be easier to find and DIY something like that in Ethiopa than to order one.

I prefer this Land Camera sticker:

    http://photojojo.com/store/awesomeness/iphone-camera-decal/

Most people think its an actual camera, unless they look closely. And it looks way less dorky to put your iPhone on the table when it has that sticker facing up.

And interesting sidenote: when I ordered it from them like 6 months ago, it had Land Camera text on it, but the new version doesn’t. Guess Polaroid is still sending out lawyergrams.

  • RyonRyon

id be more more likely to … if there was some functionality to the form, if there were an actual lens in there you could link up
