Plan on being in Florida on April 29/30? Then you should register to watch the launch of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket as part of a NASA Social. There are only 50 spots available, randomly selected from the pool of registrants. If you get in, you'll get a tour of the launch pad and Kennedy Space Center, get to talk to people who work in both public and private space programs, and get to watch the launch from a splendid vantage point with a bunch of other awesome space geeks. Downside: You cover your own transportation. (Via Karen James)

I suggest we all enter, and should we win, give our spot to Xeni. (Assuming she is not already invited).

I seems the fine print does not allow this.  Stupid fine print…

Facebook, Twitter, Google+ account requirements queer the deal.

I would absolutely fly down there just for this event, but I can’t very well take time off work and buy plane tickets on the off-chance I might win.  Just for the rights to sit rocking on the front porch of the old-people’s home boring kids by saying, “Yup – back in… twenty-aught-twelve I watched the launch of the very first commercial flight to the space station…”

I imagine I’ll watch it without ‘style’ by opening the front door as usual.
