Buy your own TSA-surplus pornoscanner for $8K

Remember when the TSA spent $113K on Rapiscan pornoscanners that turned out not to work? Now they're selling them off for $8,000.

It turns out that these things are pretty interesting from a research perspective. As Michigan University J Alex Halderman and team discovered, pornoscanners have laughably terrible information security with a wide variety of exploits.

US prisons are now using these things, because subjecting prisoners to an unknown radiation exposure is apparently fair play in the US conception of penal justice.
