For my bedtime story this week, my daughter Hannah read me Star Wars Rebels Chopper Saves the Day. This is an excellent book for 1st or 2nd grade Star Wars fans and their parents.
As my daughter so loves Star Wars movies and cartoons it is no surprise she enjoys the books, to me anyways. Hannah was shocked! "Daddy, this is the first book I've ever really wanted to read!" she told me before digging in. I love how the familiar characters, storyline and descriptions help her read some otherwise tough for a 7-year-old words.
The story is cute and entertaining. You can't pack much into 10 or 11 picture filled pages, but Chopper is appropriately grumpy, without being physically abusive to the rest of the crew. I really enjoyed listening to my daughter work her way through words like "astromech" and to hear her breeze by "Imperial TIE-Fighter."
