Croatian friends have modded over 2,000 Casio watches

Three friends in Osijek, Croatia — Fabio, Lovro, and Ian — couldn't find the custom Casio watches they wanted, so they bought modding equipment and started making their own. That was 2023. Since then, their operation, EON Watches, has shipped over 2,000 custom pieces to customers around the world from a city of about 100,000 in eastern Croatia.

Each watch gets completely disassembled — case, dial, display — modified, then reassembled and tested. The oil-filled models are especially fussy, requiring careful sealing to avoid leaks. Friends saw the results, wanted their own, and word spread. What started as a side project replaced Fabio's and Lovro's day jobs. They now mod Casios full-time.

Now they're branching out. After more than a year of design work, they're launching a clock called Wallie under a new umbrella brand, URA Watches. The idea is to "break the norm of how a clock should look" and "bring more joy when checking the time." They also have plans to design original automatic watches from scratch.

I love that they describe their motivation as loving "the whole Casio vibe together with its simplicity" — and then built a business around tearing the watches apart and rebuilding them into something new. One disassembled Casio at a time.
