Want free VIP tickets to Boing Boing's favorite annual music event, San Francisco's Treasure Island Music Festival on October 18-19? This year's stellar line-up includes Massive Attack, Outkast, Alt-J, The New Pornographers, TV On The Radio, Janelle Monáe, Cathedrals, and a dozen other performances. Our pals at Noise Pop, co-promoters of the event, have supplied a pair of VIP 2-Day Tickets (a $590 value) to give to Boing Boing readers! VIP includes a nice viewing area beside the main stage, tented lounge with full bar, access to special VIP food sellers, and private restroom facilities (yay!). To win the passes, we are continuing our now-annual tradition of a Treasure Island Music Festival Haiku Contest!
Here's what to do:
Write a Haiku about your favorite band performing at the festival. Here's the full line-up. The Haiku must consist of three lines, with the first line containing 5 syllables, the second containing 7 syllables, and the third line containing 5 syllables. Then post your Haiku to the Boing Boing BBS forum. You have until 11:59pm PDT on Thursday (10/2). We'll pick our favorite Haikus and email you at the address you used to create your forum account. (Or you can list an alternate address in your entry.) On Friday (10/3), I'll post our three finalists who will each receive a Boing Boing t-shirt! On Tuesday (10/7), I'll announce the winner. Please only one entry per person. Good luck!!!

But it’s our fault, too— we, the music-loving audience that we are, […]
Greta Thunberg's Joan of Arc-grade tongue-lashing to the world's leaders at the UN makes for some incredible mashup possibilities: it's not merely that her excellent delivery lent itself to death metal, but also her use of the phrase "right here, right now," was tailor-made for insertion into Fatboy Slim's track of the same name -- […]
There’s overwhelming support for clean energy, and the planet is giving us more reasons to invest in renewable power sources with every passing year. Even in the most inhospitable areas, wind and solar can provide a good chunk of our power, if not all of it. So why aren’t we all taking advantage of it? […]
Hey, we love Netflix and Hulu, but let’s face it: The whole setup doesn’t exactly encourage active viewing. For all the binge-watching we’ve done, it’s tough to expand our horizons or learn anything new – except for how many episodes of “The Office” it takes to make us fall asleep. It was only a matter […]
