WATCH: suspicious roadblock

This video reminds me of the time I was driving with my friends from Boulder to Las Vegas. I was 18 years old. It was about 3am and we were in the desert, a couple of hours from Vegas.

There seemed to be no one else on the freeway. My two friends were sleeping. In the distance I saw a man on the side of the road jumping up and down waving his arms. I slowed down. As I got closer I saw that he was with another man, who was lying on the ground. He was flat on his back with his head pointing in the direction of the road. He wasn't moving. They may or may not have had a car. I don't remember.

I woke up my friends and I pulled over. I was probably 30 feet in front of the two men. The man who'd been waving his arms trotted towards us, but for some reason I was looking at the prostrate man. I could see him clearly. He had long hair and a beard. He looked dead or unconscious. Then, he turned his head and looked in our direction, and broke out in a weird, wide smile. I punched the accelerator and yelled "Holy shit!"

I sometimes wonder what would have happened if the prostrate man had remained perfectly still.

This is the stuff nightmares are made of. YouTube user Ivan Tukhtin was driving on I-78 W in New Jersey, when he was suddenly stopped by someone who had pulled over to the side of the road, turned off their lights, and set up two orange traffic cones in the highway.
The dash cam on Ivan's sports car recorded the interaction as he asked the man what he was doing. Before the stranger could get any closer, Ivan maneuvered around the cones and took off.

UPDATE: Police found cone man. He said he was out of gas and set up the cones to get help.
