NBC's National Correspondent Kate Snow's series on transgender kids is getting a lot of attention online this week, and for good reason: it's a rare, candid, compassionate take on the reality that trans people are completely normal people, just like people who are not trans.

Below, clips from the series, which includes the story of California Congressman Mike Honda's 8-year-old granddaughter Malisa, whom the world first met when the lawmaker tweeted a photo of her.

"As a proud grandpa of a transgender grandchild," the eight-term Democrat wrote, "I hope she can feel safe at school without fear of being bullied."

Also in this series, the story of Jacob Lemay, who was named Mia at birth. By the time he was two, he was telling his parents, "I'm a boy."

The amazing thing about the families profiled: they love and accept their kids exactly as they are.
