A customer commissioned Glasgow, Scotland vehicle graphics company Clyde Wraps to make a 2014 Volkswagen van look like it had been devoured by rust. The vehicle is actually covered in beautifully designed vinyl stickers of corroded car parts.
From Clyde Wraps:
Taking exact measurements of the entire van over and above the blueprints we already held ensured rust could look like it had ran from door frames, handles, badges and mirrors as well as adding extra fake metal panels that look like they are riveted onto the smooth new van. The more distressed we made it look – the better the end result of the rust!
Once we had completed the artwork – which is not mirror imaged for either side too – we printed in full colour digital vinyl and finished in a Matt Laminate to further dull the colours used. It goes without saying the van stands out in a crowd and our customer had great pleasure in telling us later that it only took 3 days for the police to pull him over to ask what was going on with all the rust…
