Pope Francis thinks the English version of the Lord's Prayer "is not a good translation." He's specifically referring to the line, "lead us not into temptation," which is something he says God wouldn't do, but rather "it is Satan" who leads us into temptation.
According to DW News:
In an interview with the Catholic-influenced Italian broadcaster TV2000, Francis said he disagreed with the implication that "God is pushing us towards temptation."
"It is I who fall into temptation…a father is one who helps you get up," the Pope said, "it's Satan who leads people to temptation."
France's Catholic Church has already taken note, rewording the Our Father – or Notre Père – prayer a few days ago.
"[T]he first Sunday of Advent," the church wrote, "a new translation of the Our Father will come into force in all forms of liturgy. The Catholic faithful will no longer say: 'Do not submit to temptation' but 'Do not let us enter into temptation,'" says NPR.
