FDA to approve emergency use of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine

During an appearance on ABC News this morning, Health and Human Services Director Alex Azar said the FDA intends to grant Emergency Use Authorization to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine.

The EUA could be issued as early as Saturday.

This means distribution of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine and vaccinations could begin in the United States as soon as Monday or Tuesday of next week.

"We're looking at 20 million Americans being vaccinated just in the next coming weeks. Up to 50 million total by the end of January," Azar told ABC News.
