The Hippie Temptation was broadcast in 1967 as part of the short-lived CBS news show Who, What, Where, When, Why.
This 50-minute film paints a rather negative picture of hippies as the narrator talks about how hippies are rebels to our society, and dangerous because they praise hallucinatory drugs such as LSD.
Interviews are conducted with hippies and non-hippies about their opinions on topics such as hallucinogenic drugs.
At the start of the film, the narrator says: "They (hippies) represent a new form of social rebellion. Hippies are very interesting to the young. They dress in bizarre and colorful ways. They wear their hair long. Their very name suggests that they are hip; onto something good."
He goes on to talk about how LSD is "extremely dangerous", and says it "violently" distorts the brain (lol). He speaks about all the ways in which he thinks hippies are a problem for society and speaks about Haight Ashbury, the hippies' "colony." I think this uptight narrator would be better off if he would have just tuned in, turned on, and dropped out.
