Star Wars, as George Lucas is quick to point out is, you know, for kids. But kids grow up. What seemed cool when you were 12 and Empire Strikes Back popped feels more like Elan Sleazebaggano by the time you hit 40. Thank the gods for Andor: a chunk of the franchaise that showed viewers that Lucas' creation had the capacity to be more that a homage to the Sunday matinee cliffhanger flicks of yore. Intelligent, urbane, sharply written and acted, the two seasons of the series captured the paranoid, angry zietgiest of the past few years. As it was framed as a prequel to the film Rogue One, fans of the movie (no spoilers!) knew where the series was headed. Unfortunately, becasue of the time between when the series and the movie were shot, Disney's requirements and artistic choices made during the production, things don't always line up between the Rogie One and Andor: like a tunnel drilled from opposing sides of a mountain that juuuuuuust miss one another. That's why I'm excited for this fan edited effort, Rogue One: The Andor Cut.
Due to hit the Internet on May 25, this love letter to the characters and world created for the film and series ties everything together in a way that makes Rogue One the finale that the cast of Andor deserve. Along with the release the Rogue One: The Andor Cut, viewers will also be able to lay they eyeballs on a short video detailing all of the edits made to bring the movie into line with the series.
If you want a taste of what you're in for, the first two minutes of the rehased film are available to watch on YouTube.
