Advice/inspiration: The "best part of getting laid off"

Remember the guy who shared tips on how artists could apply for COVID financial benefits? Well, that's my pal Shalaco and he's back with another great video. In this one, he shares what good has happened since life threw a monkey wrench into his plans a few years ago. This one is really inspiring!

His words:

with 40 million people getting laid off in the last 10 weeks, I thought it might be uplifting for folks to hear the story of how my world fell apart only to leave space for me to make my dreams come true. It's the two year anniversary of my youtube channel, and it all started with a series of unfortunate events that took me places I never could have imagined.

The amount of epic resource lists out there can be overwhelming, this video focuses on walking people through the process.

A stunning 4K art tour of Burning Man 2019

Wow, my pal Shalaco (previously) really hit it out of the park with this ultra-high-definition video tour of (some of) Burning Man 2019's art. I didn't go this year, but this made me feel like I was there. Watch it in full screen, at the highest resolution possible to really get the full effect.

I traveled over 200 miles exploring Burning Man art, and I still didn't see it all. Here's a taste of what was out there.

A drone's eye view of the thick wildfire smoke in San Francisco

My pal Shalaco (previously) shot this bleak video of the smoke in San Francisco using his drone.

He writes:

...A look at SF’s skyline. San Francisco’s Air Quality seems to be getting worse, current AQI is 239, purple, very unhealthy. The city skyline is obscured by smoke and Northern California’s air is rated worst in the world as a result of smoke from the Camp fire.

A look at how Black Rock City rises from the dust

Ever wonder how the dusty blank slate of the Black Rock Desert becomes Burning Man's Black Rock City each year?

Well, my pal Shalaco has started vlogging and in his latest video he gives an interesting glimpse into this process by talking to the Survey crew as they create it. It's a really beautiful piece!

On the Burning Man Journal, he writes, "One impossible aspect about Black Rock City, and part of the nature of a city that is born every year, is that you can visit it at different times in its growth and development. Each and every year I visit, Black Rock City it is younger and younger. You can never visit New York when it was a colony or San Francisco before the gold rush, but you can do that with Black Rock City."
