John Gillilan of the CC label Vosotros sez, "To celebrate the inauguration, we've asked some of our favorite Los Angeles bands to record cover versions of public domain patriotic songs. The entire album is licensed under Creative Commons (BY NC) and available for free download from the project’s website: yeswepuede.com"

Oh, these are great! I've direct-linked 'em below, along with Coral Cache mirrors in case the site gets clobbered.

  • 2. Taps - America The Beautiful (Obi Best) (Coral Cache mirror)
  • 3. My Country 'Tis of Thee Pt. 1 (Learning Music) (Coral Cache mirror)
  • 4. My Country 'Tis of Thee Pt. 2 (Learning Music) (Coral Cache mirror)
  • 5. Yankee Doodle (Dream Kids) (Coral Cache mirror)
  • 6. You're A Grand Old Flag (weyou) (Coral Cache mirror)

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

In related news: The united states will shortly be entirely submerged, as a result of the melting of the polar ice caps. By sheer coincidence, recemntly completed dome cities, built in secret, will preserve the lives of the elite and their (universally physcially attractive) support staff.
Those few who survive the flooding will, of course, be eaten by griffins.
