"I filmed this at the Aviaros del Caribe sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica: the world's only sloth orphanage. Baby two- and three-toed sloths, whose mother's have either been run over or zapped by power lines are brought to the sanctuary and looked after by Judy Arroyo."

For more sloth photos and videos, visit her blog, or follow her on twitter. For more on the sanctuary go to slothrescue.org.

Sure, all baby animals are adorable, with the possible exception of maggots.

  • Greg323

Actually, that last one looks a lot like Ringo Starr…

Theres something about baby sloths that just makes my face break with glee.

  • shiftdelete

I’ve actually been to Aviaros del Caribe. It was a wonderful experience. There was a big three-toed Sloth in a hanging basket outside that didn’t want to let go of me. :)

If any british boingers are reading, check out the Rainforest exhibit at the London Zoo – they have two sloths and a number of golden tamarins in an open enclosure that you can walk through, and get within a few feet of the animals — they have the sloths being hand fed by the zookeepers, to prevent the other monkeys taking the food out of the sloth mouths…!

  • wylkyn

    They are like living muppets!

Too bad when they’ve grown up and been released they’ll go and eat human fecal matter from toilets.

It amazes me how much sloths resemble Jim Henson creations.

I don’t know whether they speaks more positively about the adoreableness of sloths or the sheer mastery of puppetry that was the old Henson Company. Either way, the same sorts of positive vibes from both.

I heart sloths so much. I saved a sloth from getting run over by a car near Manuel Antonio Park in Costa Rica. They are ridiculously sweet creatures and I am so happy someone is trying to save them.

I totally agree with you. It is great that people are saving this baby sloth.
It’s so cute and cuddly. I love the way it looks like.
