Pink Cake Box made this custom XKCD wedding cake for one of their customers in New Jersey: "The top of the cake includes cutouts of the comic characters with a red heart on a wire between them. The entire cake is covered in white fondant with black thin bands at the base of each tier. Equations inspired by this comic decorate the remaining tiers."

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

It’s things like this that make you think the internet has a heart. :)

Awwww! Wish I’d thought of this. One of the first valentines my husband gave me was made out of a printout of this cartoon. :-)

  • bjacques

Yeah, but Hat Guy can’t be far away…

I wish I’d had the budget for a custom nerdy wedding cake design. We just went with three regular cakes, with Eve/Wall-E and Elastigirl/Mr. Incredible action figures for toppers.

Caroline, if it makes you feel better, my wedding cake was made from a boxed mix by someone who learned how to decorate cakes not two months earlier. And (belated?) congratulations, by the way. ;)

Though after reading your comment I really wish my wife would have let me use a crazy cat lady action figure for her part of the cake.

    Awesome!!!

    best xkcd cake ever!

I’m especially impressed by the font.

But what does it say when you roll over it? Or in this case, eat it, one presumes, to reveal the hidden message. “Help, I’m being held prisoner inside a cake factory” seems somehow appropriate.
