Tiffiniy sez, "Whenever you search for how to record an mp3 or a song or whatever else, you get some old school options that you have to download. This is better - it's a webpage that lets you record on the page, save it and share with friends. Super easy."

Just click the button above to start recording. We will give you an mp3 you can save, and a link you can share with anyone. If you want better sound quality, connect a headset

I write books. My latest is a YA science fiction novel called Homeland (it's the sequel to Little Brother). More books: Rapture of the Nerds (a novel, with Charlie Stross); With a Little Help (short stories); and The Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow (novella and nonfic). I speak all over the place and I tweet and tumble, too.

Zip. Tried FF and Chromium. “Button” is non-functional. Country block?

  • silkox

Works here in the US, with FF 8. The button you see at first isn’t the true button. The true button is revealed after a brief set-up dialog.

What is the setup, a .xul?

I’d rather use Audacity and get a waveform that can be edited, personally.

Or Myna. http://www.aviary.com/tools/audio-editor I am a bit concerned about who will technically own the rights to recordings made at recordmp3. At least you know it’s Creative Commons with Myna.

  • http://valiant66.myopenid.com/ valiant66

Myna requires Flash to be installed. Recordmp3 does nothing when I click on it, so I assume it does too. No mobile users, please! kthxbai

The kerning on that headline is a little tight; to me, it honestly looks like “one-dick.”

“If you want better sound quality, connect a headset”

    lol

Good idea and well executed, but I have to quibble with their hardware recommendations. Did they really just recommend a Sure SM58 microphone? Someone buying that might be disappointed to learn that they need a lot of hardware to get that to plug into their computer… That would be forgivable if there weren’t like 20 awesome USB mics that have been invented since the SM58 was invented in frickin 1966.

Don’t get me wrong, I love me some SM58 mics, but anyone who needs a hardware recommendation probably isn’t looking for one.

Couldn’t get it to work with Chromium or Firefox on Linux.
And, yeah, the SM58 recommendation was pretty out there….
